Sulphur Recovery Unit Integrated with Dual Stage Sour Water Stripper and Incinerator Section featuring Ammonia Destruction A Project Case
The recent refineries business pushes processing low-quality crude oils, leading to an increasing amount of ammonia in the feeds to Sulphur Recovery Unit, produced from the organic nitrogen compounds contained in feedstocks. The challenge is to design a reliable and flexible system, managing acid gas streams with different compositions, following the type of crude oil processed in the upstream plants. The essential task remains the sulphur recovery, but with the complexity to manage changing acid gas streams, including ammonia as main contaminant. This Paper is a Case Report showing the actual performance of the system designed by Siirtec Nigi with the above features. Test data are based on the Performance Test carried on by Sulphur Experts International upon request of the Owner. The performance test was focused on sulphur recovery, managing the system running with acid gases coming from low-quality crude oil processing. Comparison between actual field data and original design data is included as well, evaluating the representativeness of the test.
