We have recently developed the rapid 6π-azaelectrocyclization to efficiently and conveniently introduce the ~(68)Ga-DOTA or the fluorescent groups to the amino groups of the proteins and on the live cell surface via a reaction with unsaturated aldehyde probes under the quite mild conditions. The efficient labeling procedure led to the successful imaging of the in vivo dynamics of glycoproteins, glycoclusters, and lymphocytes, precisely regulated by the surface N-glycan structures, e.g, non-reducing sialic acids.
