THE POLYPHENOLIC GLYCOCONJUGATE FROM SANGUISORBA OFFICINALIS L. WITH ANTICOAGULANT ACTIVITY ON BLOOD PLASMA

Sanguisorba officinalis L. is a member of the medium-sized Rosaceae family of more than 100 genera, that ranges from herbs to shrubs and trees distributes all over the world, especially in the Northern hemisphere [1,2]. It is a long-lived perennial herb growing up to 2 m, that occurs in a range of meadow habitats and moist grassland [3,4]. The generic name of Sanguisorba derived from Latin "sanguis" - blood, and "sorbeo" - to absorb, and it is probably referring to the dark purple color of the flowers of the plant or to one of its herbal use as an astringent to stop bleeding [5,6].
