Originally selected to design and construct a ‘standard’ stormwater management facility, ISL Engineering and Land Services worked with the Town of Didsbury to expand the project scope from a typical pond facility, to a three hectare constructed wetland and the creation of the largest park area in Didsbury. As part of the design process for the proposed facility, ISL conducted a sustainability analysis, using ASPIRE software, of the proposed design solutions that was tailored to the Town’s Integrated Community Sustainability Plan. This led to a technically effective solution that fit the municipality’s definition of sustainability, with the design solution demonstrating long term fiscal viability; effective, efficient, and responsive governance; sensitivity to the environment; cultural and recreational diversity; and municipal leadership.
