The impact of organic carbon on the average productivity of sugarcane in the state of Uttar Pradesh was studied at district level. The average organic carbon content and average productivity of sugarcane at district level was collected from the published literature for 40 districts covering entire state of Uttar Pradesh. The organic carbon content ranged from. 0.28 to 0.53% with mean value of 0.41% and SD of 0.068%). The average sugarcane productivity in the state ranged from 30 to 72 t ha~(-1) with mean of 53.1 t ha~(-1) and SD of 8.7 t ha~(-1). The correlation between organic carbon and sugarcane yield in the state was 0.65. In districts with organic carbon content in the range of 0.28-0.34%), the average cane productivity was 44 (± 6.3) t ha~(-1), with OC range of 0.35-0.39%, the productivity was 49.9 (± 9.5) t ha~(-1), with OC range of 0.40-0.44%, the productivity was 53.5 (+ 5.3) t ha~(-1) and with 0.45-0.50% the average cane productivity was 60.7 (± 5.8) t ha~(-1).
