This chapter is intended to cover in general terms the development of the prudent operator standard in the context of the relationship between the operator and nonoperating working interest owners, while also dis cussing the development of the standard in connection with the relation ship between the lessor and lessee. Following is a discussion of some of the issues that have arisen and case law that has developed to address those concerns. Other issues exist that are beyond the scope of this chapter.
