The requirements for a telescopic loader are sophisticated, particularly in agriculture. Continuously drive concepts up to 40 km/h are now standard. Demands for even greater speed, noise reduction, emissions legislation and combination with electrical energy now lie at the heart of most modern drive technology. The electro hydraulic networking of the components must not be neglected here. The draft deals with the safety requirements at high driving speeds and illuminates the differences of the individual drive unit technologies. Here, particular consideration is given to the properties of a continuously variable hydrostatic drive unit with large-angle technology. Support for possible electrical energy is demonstrated and investigated through practical experience and theoretical calculations. Mild hybrids with a continuously variable power split are responsible for optimum operating points of a drive unit. An optimal combination with electric motors automatically yields considerable downsize potential. Lower fuel consumption with increased performance and travel comfort forms the basis for a modern drive unit.
