The paper presents the theoretical aspects relating to the behaviour of the polluted soil samples in the microwave field, the experimentally obtained data, the constructive solution of the microwave equipment designed for the energy efficient treatment of fuel oil contaminated soil and numerical simulation of the microwave heating process, as well. The energy aspects aimed at maximizing the power dissipated in the soil by setting the control system so that to limit the area of the reflected power.
