The Meruap Field is located in Jambi Sub-basin, part of South Sumatra Basin. The first well was drilled in 1974. The main oil reservoir is sand layers o!" the Air Benakat Formation (ABF). To date oil produced from Meruap is 10.3 MMBO. An active drilling and workover campaigned from 2008 to 2010 had able to boost production from 1700 BOPD to 4000 BOPD. To further evaluate the potential of the oil field, sequence stratigraphy and facies analyses studies were conducted. To support the study, 40 wells log, 3D and 2D seismic, biostratigraphy, core analysis, production and pctrophysics data had been used to elaborate and to solve the problem.This paper is mainly to study sequence stratigraphy of ABF and facies development within ABF sands which was deposited during Middle Miocene. The ABF Sands can be divided into five sequence boundaries (SB). Furthermore it can be divided into ton system tracks which composed of fifteen sand layers. Gumai Formation was penetrated in the Meruap Oil Field and the data was used to mark the onset of ABF deposition in the area. Sequence stratigraphic correlation indicated that sand to sand correlation within the SB are correlable even though there are an indication of discontinuity due to facies change as lobes switched from one lobe to another.1 he integration of the study indicated that ABF in Meruap was deposited in tidal dominated delta, it could be divided into three depositional facies, they are tidal channel, tidal sand bar, and tidal sand flat, with the depositional trend are oriented in Southwest to Northeast direction.Facies distribution pattern can represent lateral distribution of reservoir in Meruap Field, so it can be used to guide sweet spot location of further development wells.
