Evaporative Condensers Versus Open Cooling Tower Plate Heat Exchanger Systems in Industrial Refrigeration Applications

This paper illustrates the design requirements and operating characteristics of evaporative condensers compared to those of an open cooling tower and heat exchanger arrangement. The paper evaluates heat transfer efficiency, capital cost, refrigerant charge, maintenance, safety and operating costs of both methods.
