Determining Computational Methods to Aid in Rare Earth Element Extractant Design

摘要

One mining process involves solvent extraction to purify rare earth (RE) metal ions by selectively increasing the concentration of RE ions in organic diluents by extraction from aqueous solution. Computational methods can provide a safe and fast way to screen new extractants thus decreasing the overhead associated with the search, synthesis, and testing.
