In Poland every year, in conventional and fluid power plants as a result of burning coal and lignite 4 mln Mg of fly ash (FA) is produced. This waste is hazardous and its disposal is associated with both environmental pollution (particulate air pollution, water and soil pollution with metals and other harmful substances, areas occupied by the landfills) and high cost. At the same time FA has valuable properties that enable its use in various industries. FA is utilized for example in ceramics, building engineering, highway engineering and even in agriculture. It is unique in world scale that over 30% of Polish FA is utilized in mining industry.
