The discussion about which free flap offers the best implantbility is an actual issue un reconstructive surgery. The resorption of the transplanted bone is fundamental to ensure long term stability to dental implants. Many rectrospective studies have been made about bone resorption of fibula free flaps. Nevertheless, the reduction of the bone high on plane X-rays appears an unreliable measure of the actual reduction of the transplant's volume.
