The paper presents the Model Creator Module (MCM), as one of the functionalities of a proposed software solution in the framework of the South Eastern European Transmission System Operators Challenges project. The module is developed to enable reading data needed for creating the transmission network model from the standard UCTE data exchange format (UCTE-DEF) for load flow and three phase short circuit studies, performing a checking procedure of the input data and writing it to a database. Briefly explained, the MCM is used to read the input data, to perform error check and to prepare the input data in a form appropriate for the other modules of the software solution. In addition, the MCM enables island detection in the input model and provides active power balance check in the transmission network model. After all the checking procedures are finished, the MCM is used to write the input data in a database, from where the data can be used by the other modules developed within the software solution.
