FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF FEA-1100 - A ZERO OOP AND LOW GWP FOAM EXPANSION AGENT

DuPont has developed FEA-1100, a zero ODP, low GWP and nonflammable foam expansion agent for polyurethane foam applications. Last year we presented general performance characteristics of FEA-1100 compared to commercially available foam expansion agents (HFC-245fa, HFC-365mfc and pentanes). As our program has moved to the customer testing phase, we have focused on providing data for FEA-1100 customer evaluations. This paper will discuss the studies we conducted based on customer interest, including heat release during FEA evaporation, thermal stability of FEA-1100 foam systems, and the use of FEA-1100 blends to improve insulation, handling, cost and foam fiammability
