Aluminum, silicon, and iron are potential material resources often in wastewater sludge and how to apply this type of waste residue into beneficial uses is a key development in current waste management. Conversely, to achieve a sustainable wastewater sludge management, the incineration technology has been also widely used as an alternative to significantly reduce the sludge volume, destroy pathogens, and remove organic pollutants for easy handling and disposal. However, substantial amount of ash residues will be generated after sludge incineration and the subsequent disposal of such ash residues is becoming a serious concern.
