EVALUATING A BRAZILIAN UNIVERSITY WEEE GENERATION AND OPERATIONAL LOGISTICS

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) management in Brazil is a recent subject, being the first law directly addressing this subject the National Solid Waste Policy, from 2010. It created Technical Committees, including the WEEE Committee, responsible for developing the WEEE logistics. The University of Caxias do Sul (UCS) is a private educational institution located in Caxias do Sul, in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. It has over 37,000 students, 80 undergraduate, and 13 post-graduate courses. It also includes a University Hospital, physics, chemical and biological laboratories, and many Information technology (IT) classrooms, resulting in a large variety of waste generated.
