摘要

There is a huge potential for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the way of disposing municipal solid waste (MSW). In "China's National Climate Change Program" which was compiled in 2007, the municipal waste management was seen as a priority area to reduce GHG emissions. Thus, the important role of municipal solid waste in global GHG emissions has attracted much attention. Current annual emission of municipal solid waste is up to 94.38Mt in China, 80.9% of which are processed by the way of landfill, only 15.2% are processed by the way of incineration and 2.7% are processed by the way of compost. Selecting the appropriate processing mode can not only reduce the impact of MSW on local environment, but also reduce GHG emissions and save fossil fuels and mitigate of global climate warming. This effect of reducing GHG in the process of controling local pollutant emissions, was called synergistic effect.
