The French project CAER "Alternative Fuels for Aeronautics" gathers the key industrial partners from aeronautics (engine and aircraft OEM) and fuel industry, as well as from research organizations covering a large spectrum of expertise, and has for objective: to federate French Research and Development on alternative fuels for aeronautic to better understand the different phenomena about the fuel/engine adequacy-to participate more effectively in the international certification process and to be active in the future production pathways of biofuels. This paper summarizes the work done, in the framework of the CAER project, to evaluate the impact of synthesized hydrocarbons such as Synthesized Paraffinic Kerosine (SPK) from Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty acids (HEFA) and Synthesized Iso-Paraffins (SIP) from Hydroprocessed fermented sugars on physical properties of jet fuel. Different types of synthesized hydrocarbons at different rates of blending in Jet A-1 were studied.
