From the commercial, industrial, and scientificpoint of views, clay composites are of particular interestespecially in the field of water purification and irrigation. At present, even though a great deal of work on claymaterials was carried out, still more remains to be done inorder to exploit completely their potential applications. The aim of this study is to prepare a highly absorbentpolymer-clay materials to control and manage irrigationwater. Here, we report the synthesis of polymer-LDHcomposites through an incorporation/in-situpolymerization process. In addition, we characterize theprepared composites by different spectroscopic techniques, including, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), FT-IRspectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and thescanning electron microscope (SEM). Subsequently, weinvestigate the effect of the prepared composites on waterfront distribution and moisture content in sandy soils byusing subsurface drip irrigation system. The obtainedresults have confirmed the composite structure of theprepared materials and have showed an improvement inthe polymer water absorptivity, indicating a controlprocess of irrigation water. More information will bediscussed in the conference site.
