Thin-bed reservoirs are one of the major research subjects in lithologic seismic prospecting, and one of the main difficulties as well. Seismic impedance inversion is generally considered a direct geologic interpretation approach. Although the inversion technique has evolved from post-stack to pre-stack, and from AVO inversion to elastic inversion, this technique is still influenced by many factors including seismic acquisition, processing, interpretation, as well as others. Such influence sometimes leads to a large mismatch between the geologic interpretation results from the impedance inversion and the spatial distribution of the actual reservoir. In this paper, we analyze the influence of seismic wavelet phases in the post-stack inversion based on a convolution model of a thin-bed reservoir under ideal imaging conditions with pre-stack influential factors of seismic acquisition and processing excluded. Our study indicates that the phase of the inversion wavelet has little influence on the accuracy of the post-stack inversion result, so zero-phase processing is not necessary.
