In the past the combine business was determined by increasing engine power and platform size contributing to an increase of combine performance and feedrate. While in North America non-conventional threshing and separation is becoming the standard technology, Europe with its wide range of crop and harvesting conditions still largely prefers conventional walker combines. The combine operator workstation has become very comfortable and the desire to remotely sense and control all combine functions and working parameters from the cabin is increasing. Along with this demand for convenience, there is a growing need of closed loop controls to more efficiently use the installed performance with respect to harvesting quality and feedrate.
