Water resource shortage has become a global concern and challenge. The wastewater reclamation and reuse is one of the primary means of increasing water availability. Desalination of high salinity wastewater is an essential technology to increase recycled cooling water concentration ratio and decrease the volume of make-up water. At present, the commonly used wastewater desalination technology is ultrafiltration-reverse osmosis. However, the ultrafíltration-reverse has disadvantages such as high capital cost, high operation cost, and low water recovery rate. The content of desalination of these technologies is typically not controllable as needed.
