The shell model description of the nucleus and the magic numbers resulting from such an approach is one of the cornerstone of the nuclear structure. Nevertheless, the question of the persistence of the `spherical' magic numbers in the very neutron-rich nuclei is highly debated. We discuss in the following experimental results obtained in the last years at GANIL concerning the N = 20 and N = 28 shell closures in the neutron-rich nuclei.
