Calculations and Measurements of Input Impedance of Converter Traction Vehicles in Aspect of Interferences Level Reduction

Modern traction vehicles with static inverters are furnished with input filter. A few input filters of chosen traction vehicles are considered in this paper. The following were calculated: input impedance for load with asynchronous motors, impedance for idle operation. Results obtained from calculations have been compared with measurements conducted on real traction vehicles during normal operation. These impedances were compared with requirements in force in some countries. The authors of the paper think, that obligatory implementation of minimal value of input impedance of vehicle may be a method of decreasing harmonics level generated by traction substation loaded with inverter locomotive.
