Current Efficiency for Aluminium Electrowinning from Cryolite-Alumina Melts in a Laboratory Cell

The current efficiency with respect to aluminium was determined in controlled laboratory experiments based on the amount of aluminium deposited during galvanostatic electrolysis. Values ranging from 93 - 96 % were obtained by varying the cathodic current density and the AlF_3 content.
