摘要

A new method for fabricating micro array shaft and hole is presented, which utilizes the orbital machining function of numerically controlled (NC) die sinking electro-discharge machine. It is based on the reverse electrical discharge machining (EDM) method and the processing principle is analyzed. The influences of pulse duration, pulse interval and peak current on processing speed, machining accuracy and electrode wear were studied. With this method, 3×3 micro array electrode was obtained with diameter of single electrode is 50 urn and aspect ratio is 16. With the obtained micro array electrode, 3×3 micro array hole was machined which the average diameter is 70 μm. The research shows that it is feasible to fabricate micro array shaft and hole by the orbital machining function on NC die sinking electro-discharge machine.
