Steel shear walls have been used more frequently in recent years as the lateral load resisting system in the design and retrofit of high-rise buildings. In current paper the problem of seismic upgrading of RC frame structures by means of metal shear panels is examined with comparison RC shear wall. Firstly, calculated the bare RC frame performance, next an ideal panels has been defined and secondly refined FEM models have been implemented in order to improving performance of RC frame. Next, performance index of retrofitted structures calculated. Analyses are nonlinear static pushover. Finally, the performance of the retrofitted and unretrofitted structure is presented in terms of fragility relationships that relate the probability of exceeding a performance level to the earthquake intensity. Seismic fragility relationships were developed based on several performance levels. Fragility curves for the retrofitted structures were compared with those and with the unretrofitted structure.
