摘要

This study presents numerical study of the out-of-plane behavior of retrofitted masonry walls when subjected to cyclic loading. The retrofit is performed by inserting inclined steel pins in the plane perpendicular to the wall face. This paper develops a finite element model for the retrofitted masonry walls, where continuum elements represent brick units and interface elements represent brick unit/mortar slip interface, and truss elements represent the reinforcing bars. The proposed finite element methodology is validated by the comparisons with experimental results. We also propose a simplified finite element model where the reinforcing bars are represented by an equivalent vertical bar to stabilize the nonlinear analysis and reduce the computational burden.
