Seismic loading on structures has a very complex nature and may significantly change depending on various parameters. Understanding this relationship is a point of concern for better seismic evaluation and design. This study aims to evaluate correlation of earthquake parameters with displacement demands of low and mid-rise RC buildings. Values and change of the correlation of the nineteen different earthquake parameters with respect to number of stories and soil type are investigated. 288 SDOF building models are analyzed for 83 earthquake records on different soil types. Findings point out importance of number of story and soil type in presentation of displacement demands, especially in damage assessment or fragility studies. Acceleration related parameters are observed to be more strongly correlated with demands for low story buildings, whereas velocity related parameters are better for the buildings with higher number of stories within the scope of this study.
