Feasibility Studies are vital for resource discovery to technically viable and profitable operation. The study levels and use on a stage gate process approach are typically Concept, Pre Feasibility, Feasibility and Definitive Studies. Each level must assess all aspects including Risk Analysis. The Study developed as a result describes a business opportunity and guides investment. This paper considers Feasibility Studies and demonstrates their "Uses and Abuses". A number of Case histories are discussed; common mistakes and lessons learned are presented. The paper outlines a framework for the conduct of Feasibility Studies and provides guidance to Minimum Standards and best practice.
