Gentrification in China: Process, Effect and Planning Response

摘要

The phenomena of the gentrification have shown globalism. The gentrification appears successively in some major cities of China along with urban renewal and socioeconomic transformations. After introducing briefly gentrification conception, occurrence background, developmental stages and related study achievements, this paper mainly analyzes social mechanism and spatial effects produced by gentrification in China. It stresses that phenomenon of social-spatial differentiation including urban gentrification is actually social ecology problems of urban spaces, and it demands ecological balance and sustainable development of urban society. Besides, this paper suggests that urban planning should pay attention to the phenomenon of the urban gentrification in order to raise sensitivity anticipation to urban social problems that may occur during in spatial planning. Consequently, the paper proposes firstly governable conceptions of social space of urban gentrification and responses of planning measures.
