Preliminary studies show that the ipper front ion source is capable of performing PTR ion/ ion reactions without the need for instrument hardware modications. The source creates multiply charged reagent ions which have been down to decrease PTR reaction times. Optimal conditions for long term stability were achieved by enclosing the ipper prototype and using ow rates below 300 nL/ min. Anthracene-9-carboxylic acid and benzoic acid are eective, singly-charged PTR reagents, while insulin and DNA multi-mers are eective, multiply-charged PTR reagents. The ipper shows promise for being a cost eective solution to improving the accuracy and precision of isobaric tagging.
