The notched injection waveform provides an ehanced apporach to gas-phase fractionation by eliminating the necessity to generate optimized bins through prior sample knowledge or in-silico prediction. This approach proivdes more unique peptide identifications when compared to standard binning and tiled precursor selection while requiring less initial setup. It has been observed that the level of gas-phase enrichment is approaching the degree of fractionation which facilitates the identification of low abundance ions and aids in overcoming the challenges of quantitative measurements encountered in complex, high dynamic range samples.
