1. Direct analysis of TNBC cells by LAESI-MS detected metabolites, lipids and multiply charged protein ions. 2. Scores plots showed the differences in the mass spectra of the MDA MB-231 parental cells and the genetically modified counterparts. 3. S-plots indicated that some metabolites, such as glutathione, sper mine, methoxytyramine, spermidine, were responsible for most o the variance between the LAESI mass spectra of the TNBC and the genetically modified cell lines. 4. Tandem MS confirmed the identification of some biomarker candi dates suggested by the S-plot. 5. LEASI-MS has the potential to analyze the metabolic changes due to genetic differences in cancer cells.
