1. A comparative proteomics analysis of mature adipocyte derived from young and old female obese donors found 17 aging-related protein changes. 2. These proteins were identified by 2-DE in combination with MALDI-TOF-MS. 3. Changes in the levels of these proteins indicate alterations in energy generation, cell proliferation, a decline in antioxidant capability and an increase in apoptosis. These findings provide important clues to the molecular mechanisms of adipose tissue aging and aging-related obesity. 4. These findings are a valuable complement to other-omics approaches such as genomic analysis..
