Physio-Chemical Properties of Low Rank Coal/Liquid CO_2 Slurries as Gasifier Feedstocks

This paper summarizes the results of rheological testing done with slurries made from liquid CO_2 and two types of sub-bituminous coal as well as theoretical calculations of agglomerate break-up. The experimental results agree with both the theoretical calculations and the earlier scouting study. They show that coal slurry with liquid CO_2 has a lower viscosity than coal slurry with water at a similar solids loading.
