Osteosarcoma is the most common bone tumor in dogs and accounts for 85% of tumors seen in the skeleton. The mean age is seven years old and usually occurs in large to giant breed dogs such as Saint Bernard's, Great Dane's and Rottweiler's. Seventy-five percent of all bone tumors occur in the appendicular skeleton with front limbs being affected twice as much as the hind limbs.
