摘要

Stone coal, carbonaceous black shale, from Shaanxi and Guizhou Province, People's Republic of China has been examined to address the environmental problems associated with its use and weathering. We have focused our preliminary study on the mode of occurrence of Se, As, and other elements hazardous to human health. Scanning electron microscope, energydispersive analysis and electron microprobe wave- length dispersive spectroscopy were used to identify and determine the composition of the sulfides observed in the stone coals. We identified gersdorffite, polydymite, millerite, pentlandite, vaesite, violarite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, clausthalite, galena, and pyrite as hosts for environmentally sensitive elements.
