Background: Patients who are partially edentulous due to trauma need replacement of their missing teeth by implant-supported prostheses. However, inadequate alveolar ridge height and width prevent the placement of implants. Methods: A 24 year old male patient, with a complaint of post-traumatic loss of his upper anterior teeth due to a car accident injury, was referred to Rambam Health Care Campus, Orthodontic and Craniofacial Center, Haifa, Israel. He underwent a combined surgical orthodontic treatment protocol and a preimplantation surgical augmentation including bilateral insertion of vertical distractors in the maxillary canine area and 2 orthodontic implants (TADs). Results: Maxillary anterior alveolar ridge augmentation using distraction ostegenisis was achieved. Conclusion: A combined surgical orthodontic management protocol of the vertical alveolar distraction ostogenesis for augmentation purposes is an efficient treatment method to improve the alveolar ridge volume and architecture in trauma cases as a preimplantation stage.
