Detailed quantification of 3d soft tissue nose asymmetry before and after primary lip repair in ucclp infants

Nasal asymmetry in infants with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate was studied using CT obtained before and after primary lip/nasal repair in infancy. Nasal asymmetry at every surface point was calculated allowing detailed analysis of asymmetry.Restitution of the nasal symmetry is one of the most challenging primary tasks in the treatment of children with cleft lip and palate. An important criterion for success is symmetry of the nasal soft tissue contour. The purpose of the study was to compare nasal asymmetry before and after primary lip repair in infants with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate (UCCLP).
