Simulation of regional-scale groundwater recharge and its change under transient climate condition

@@Developed method of recharge estimation is based on simulation of water balance forming under different typical climatic, landscape, soil and hydrological conditions. The used water balance model consists of two coupled blocks. The first block simulates the surface precipitation transformation and forms upper boundary condition for the second block. The second block is HYDRUS-1D model that uses Richard's equations for calculating water flux through the vadoze zone toward to groundwater. Application of these models for regional scale recharge estimations was done for the south-western part of Moscow Artesian basin. This investigation allows determining the main factors, which affect on groundwater recharge and its dependence of groundwater level depth. The numerical experiment for studying of transient climate impact on groundwater was performed for climate scenario of growing of mean temperature on 4C during 21 st century. Comparative analysis of these series and the series obtained for the steady state climate conditions shows the trend of increasing of recharge in this region.
