Multifunction rotating phased array radars perform multiple functions such as search, confirmation, tracking and acquisition by interleaving dwells. Though the functions may be interleaved, tracking of high dynamic targets in rotating phased array radars require hard real-time scheduling of dwells. This article proposes a system approach which manages the radar time resource in realtime, performing the task of scheduling the dwells and performing technical services of the radar. The hard realtime performance of the system is achieved by following multi-threaded architecture. This architecture can schedule radar burst of minimum 1.2 ms duration with sub-burst interval of 20μs. This architecture is implemented on RTOS platform optimized for 10 μs slice and tested in multifunction radar.
