Open Dielectric Resonators radiate strongly into free space at and around their resonant frequencies. Out of the six faces of a Rectangular Dielectric Resonator, two of the surfaces are assumed to be imperfect magnetic walls, as Okaya and Barash model indicates, while remaining four are assumed to be perfect magnetic walls. Therefore, the Rectangular DR radiates as a magnetic dipole antenna and the three modes of the lowest order indices are TE~(x_(111)), TE~(y_(111)), and TE~(z_(111)). These modes radiate like X. Y. Z directed magnetic dipoles., Due to their small size, high radiation efficiency, intrinsic mechanical simplicity, ease of coupling to almost all transmission lines, and the advantage of obtaining various radiation characteristics using different modes of the resonator they are used in many applications. Besides, the fabrication of rectangular DR antenna (RDRA) is easy, and by properly choosing the dimensional ratios, mode degeneracy can be avoided. There are many applications of DRA as radiating elements at microwaves and millimetre wave frequencies owing to their small size and low loss. In this paper, analysis of trapped rectangular dielectric resonator antenna is reported. In this work, wave impedance and resonant frequency of dielectric resonator antenna for different physical distances of metallic side walls from the resonator element are computed and plotted. Also a study of variation of wave impedance of the antenna with respect to dielectric constant of material of the resonator has also been made.
