Open-cell foams have better sound absorption abilities over conventional closed-cell foams. One approach to develop new foamed materials with improved acoustic abilities is to control their cellular-structural properties through the manipulation of processing parameters. This paper presents a novel method to process open-cell polymeric foams. A combined process of rotational foam molding and particulate leaching was used to produce open-cell foams for acoustic absorption. Foamed samples were characterized on their cellular morphologies and acoustic properties.
