摘要

The purpose of this article is to offer a basic categorization of Hydraulically-Applied Erosion Control Products (HECPs) based upon fiber type (i.e., wood, paper, and man-made), the quantity and type of stabilizing emulsion, and the performance properties that are most relevant to selection of the most appropriate technology (i.e., functional longevity, percent effectiveness, vegetative establishment, and shear stress). The basic categories include Hydraulic Mulch, Stabilized Fiber Matrix, Bonded Fiber Matrix, and Flexible Growth Medium. This system will offer owners, agencies, designers, and contractors a simplified process for product selection and help insure cost-effective applications while increasing awareness and utility for HECPs.
