The environmental health sciences are mid-stream in a revolution of Kuhnian proportions (Kuhn, 1962). It promises to change how we evaluate the health and ecological risks of chemical exposure, and it holds the potential of significant reductions in the human disease burden. It may even be of a magnitude to help reduce health care costs.
