My presentation today is somewhat mis-named, for two reasons. 1. The risks facing the commodities market are not just regulatory. a) Legislative; b) Regulatory; c) Enforcement; d) Soon, the litany of risks also is likely to include litigation, as market participants may have to resort to the court system to protect their financial interests from un-due damage due to inappropriate legislative and regulatory actions. 2. In order to fully understand the risks to commodities markets, one has to expand consideration to other financial market regulations that are under discussion. a) Commodities regulations; b) Derivatives regulations, of which commodities are a small portion; c) Broader financial market regulations.
