It is a well-known fact that superfinishing is an abrasive process used to achieve micro-finished surfaces, extend product life mainly by increasing the fatigue resistance, reduce the energy loss due to friction and provide the product with superior cosmetic appearance. The process is widely used in the bearing and automotive industries. The procedure can be used in machining processes after any finishing operation, but it is recommended after grinding, if the economic factors are also taken into account [1]. Superfinishing is used as a final process after grinding to remove the ground surface topography and generate a smooth surface with increased loadbearing capacity (ISO 13565-1:1996 and ISO 4287:1997). Most abrasive fine finishing procedures (with the only exception of fine grinding) do not use the abrasive disc (specific to grinding) as a processing tool, but use various other forms of abrasive material concentration bound abrasives in ceramic (stones), abrasive bands, etc. [2].
