IMPROVEMENT OF REPRODUCTION PERFORMANCE INDUCED BY PCV2 VACCINATION OF SOWS AND GILTS WITH CIRCOVAC~R IN 277 GERMAN SOW FARMS

PCV2 has been demonstrated to be involved in reproductive failures both in laboratory studies (1) and in the fields (2). CIRCOVAC, a PCV2 vaccine used in the sow, was granted an exceptional license (§ 17c AMG) in Germany in August 2004 and was fullyregistered in the EU in June 2007. Veterinarians and farmers consistently reported visible improvement in reproduction following the use of CIRCOVAC. The objective of this study was to compare reproduction results before and after PCV2 vaccination in a large number of herds in Germany.
